This Virtual College basic awareness course is made up of three learning objectives:

- The role of the lead professional
The course will give you an in depth understanding of these topic areas so that you can confidently discuss the concepts with families, should you need to. It will provide underpinning knowledge for lead professionals or practitioners, prior to face to face training. The course comes with an online assessment and certificate on achieving a satisfactory passmark.

On completion of this course you will be able to download a Virtual College certificate.
Approximately 4 hours. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly you can study and absorb the material. You can proceed as quickly or slowly as you like, and there is no limit on how long you can take to do the course.
All workers who come into contact with children and families and lead professionals as an introduction or refresher. Please be aware that this training content deals with a potentially disturbing subject matter and material and images used may be of a graphic nature. The course carries links to help lines and national support agencies that can be contacted should you feel the need to talk about the subject to someone other than your colleagues or manager.
